The Cool

The Cool is not a "Tribute" band in the accepted sense but we do pay tribute to a particular style of music this being "cool" jazz.  The Cool Jazz movement began as early as the late 1940's by jazz musicians most of whom had played in the big band era and be-bop and were seeking something else.  Artists like Gil Evans, Miles Davis,
John Coltrane and many more.
Cool Jazz relies on closely arranged harmonies and melodies - less frantic than be-bop, and since a great number of the composers and musicians were black you can also hear a good pinch of soul.
This style of music is easy on the ear, has good melody and good rhythms-We also play a variety of swing. Altogether producing a good musical mix for any occasion. We hope you will enjoy!

The Sue Kibbey Trio
Sue has been singing jazz since 1981 and has travelled the world as a soloist and with various styles of jazz band. She doesn't like to pigeon hole herself into any style and believes that jazz is jazz whatever era you prefer. She will be singing her own interpretation of traditional standards, including music which is happy and foot tapping or sad and mellow, and all done with a sense of humour and fun. Joining Sue in the Trio are Graham Pinkney on keyboard and Kevin Sanders on bass.
