BRUCE ADAMS
with
The Martin Dale Quartet

Plymouth Jazz Club is delighted to present, for the first time, trumpeter Bruce Adams, together with the Martin Dale Quartet, the region's number one jazz quartet.
Bruce is one of the UK's finest trumpeters, a stimulating and dramatic performer with spectacular range & power. He has played throughout Europe with an enormous number of famous jazz musicians from all over the world. He has had a long-standing association with Alan Barnes, making many recordings. His career ranges from 'Opportunity Knocks' to star soloist with the BBC Big Band! He takes his jazz trumpet playing very seriously but between tunes he can present a stream of jokes, anecdotes and hilarious observations that reflect his long immersion in show business.

Plymouth based saxophonist Martin Dale is one of the busiest and most popular jazz musicians in the South West and is also a member of the London based group “Sax Appeal”. He has worked on the Q.E.2 as lead alto player, backing such artists as Neil Sedaka, Petula Clark, and Tom Jones. He has recorded for the BBC on radio and television. His 8 or more CDs have been played on both Radio 2, 3 and Jazz FM. His gigs at PJC with nationally recognised musicans Derek Nash, Lee Gibson, Nigel Price, Alan Barnes & Roger Marks etc. have been highly successful & drawn standing ovations. Gavin Martin, piano, is a regular member of Martin Dale's groups and also plays with the Dave Hankin Big Band. In 1980 he joined the Royal Marines School of Music. In 1994 he was awarded the Silver Medal of the Worshipful Company of Musicians.
Kevin Sanders is one of the most in-demand bass players in the West. He has been a member of Martin's bands for several years and has played with many of the top UK musicians. He is now the Head of Bass studies for The Academy of Music and Sound.
Denis Harris, drums, was a member of the Tony Harris Quartet and is a very versatile and popular local musician.

An unmissable evening of great entertainment and top class jazz!
