John Maddocks' Band - Stomp, Sing and Swing

John Maddocks’ brilliant clarinet playing makes him one of Britain’s most outstanding reed players. His unique and driving sound appeals to all lovers of New Orleans style jazz. John has developed his own style based on that of Johnny Dodds and in the 60’s he led a band in London named the Blackbottom Stompers after a Johnny Dodds band. Since moving to Dorset in 1973 he has extended his range & become one of the most gifted & versatile reedsmen in the UK.

For this gig John has put together an all-star line-up featuring:-

John Shillito - strong & versatile trumpet player, respected bandleader & great favourite at PJC.
Tom Whittingham – highly experienced & popular trombonist.
Simon Banks – fine traditional & mainstream piano, fulcrum of any rhythm section.
Dorine de Wit – naturally talented & entertaining vocalist & banjo player.
Jim Swinnerton- solid & rock-steady bassist, in great demand.
Julian “Baby Jools" Aldridge - A fantastic young New Orleans style drummer!
