Alan Barnes (Voted top sax player 2009) Andover 2007, here on alto sax, with an all star band in a tribute to Johnny Hodges.

Alexandra Ridout BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year 2016, played at PJC August 11th. 2019 with the Matt Carter Septet.

Andy Sheppard  Turned the fortunes of the Club when he appeared at the Mayflower Sailing Club in March 1987.

Barbara Thompson's Paraphernalia appeared at the Club a number of times in the early days.

Beryl Bryden  Appeared with the Climax Jazz Band in Dec. 1985

Billy Thompson  No relation to Barbara Thompson OBE but here again playing in her group , appeared twice at the Club with "The Amigos" a Welsh gypsy jazz group and once with pianist Pete Lemer also in this same Barbara Thompson group.

Bobby Wellins  Scottish saxophonist Bobby Wellins seen here with his own quartet, appeared at PJC in Oct. 1989 with the Tony Harris Quartet.

Brian Carrick's Algiers Stompers  (B.C. clarinet)at Colchester Jazz Club 2009, with Gabriel Gadd on piano sounding very much like Marlene Dietrich

Bruce Adams   Seen here playing "All the Way" on the Flugelhorn at the  Lakeside Country Club 11/2009  

Bruce Turner Appeared at Oscars with a Roger Marks Quartet in 1989. Known as "the Dirty Bopper" as he forsook Trad Jazz for Mainstream appearing  here with Humphrey Lyttelton's band in 1986

Charleston Chasers  have appeared at PJC on three occasions, here they are at the Whitley bay Jazz Festival  August 2009.

Chris Barber Band  Appeared at the Duke of Cornwall Hotel on 31st Aug. 1990, in the Club's series "Jazz at the Duke".

Christine Tyrrell  Dec 2008 in a pub celebrating Warwick's birthday.

Clare Teal Appeared with her band at the Mermaid Dec. 2003. In this clip she performs at the Paradise Carousel at the Mayfair Hotel, London, April 2007.  

Craig Milverton  Must be Devon's most in demand jazz pianist, appears at the club with his own trio plus guest stars. Now a national artist with ' Digby Fairweather's Half-dozen' (voted best small group for several years running in the British Jazz Awards) and 'The Magnificent Seven'

Danny Moss MBE  Appeared at the Club many times in the period 1984 to 1992.  Regarded by many as the UK's consummate tenor saxophonist.

Denise Lawrence The Denise Lawrence Band. Denise Lawrence sings the Nellie Lutcher classic jazz anthem, Dec.2007.  The band also featured John Hallam who has also visited the club as a star performer.

Dick Heckstall Smith (tenor sax)
Appeared in the mid 1980's at the Quay Club with Tony Harris and the Mayflower Sailing Club with his Group "111 Space"

Dick Morrisey/Jim Mullen  Dick Morrisey tenor sax, and Jim Mullen guitar, of the Morrisey Mullen Band both have appeared at the Club as guest artists with local backing groups.

Digby Fairweather  (trumpet) With the Ron Russell Band at the Spice of Life London, July 2009

Don Rendell  Ex Plymothian, Don Rendell opened the Club in 1984 with the Tony Harris Quartet.  A member of the early Dankworth group and one of the great UK saxophonists of that era.

Don Weller  The Don Weller Quartet appeared at PJC's one and only promotion at the Palace Theatre (Academy) , Union Street, Sept 1988.

Enrico Tommasso  Featured on trumpet in this Gene Krupa Centenary Concert, London 2009.

Frog Island Jazz Band  Known for their interpretation of the early New Orleans music of Jelly Roll Morton and King Oliver, this clip recorded Dec.2007.

Garry Potter (guitar) The Gary Potter Trio play "It Don't Mean a Thing" at the Rijswiik annual Django Reinhardt Festival, in Holland, 1991.

Half Quartet A local Plymouth Duo seen here in Sept 2009, appeared at PJC with additional saxophonist and drummer to make a superb jazz quartet.

Ian Wheeler (clarinet) and sometimes a superb harmonica, a local musician, who was for many years the clarinettist with the Chris Barber band.

Jazz Connection from "Breda, Holland" this band has made two appearances for PJC at the Mermaid

JB Jazz and Blues Band  at The Harp Hotel, Albrighton, Shropshire,  on Sunday, October 7th. 2007.

Jive Aces at the Queens Theatre, Hornchurch January 2008, we didn't have the dancers at PJC.

Roger Marks Armada Jazz Band  Another well  established Plymouth based jazz band who have appeared at the Club on many occasions.  Seen here in a slow reflective blues number.

Roy Williams  (Trombone)  Seen here with the great Alex Welch Band in 1976, he first appeared at PJC in 1984 with the Tony Harris Quartet.

Sammy Rimmington (Clarinet) recorded in 1981 in Sweden.

Savannah Jazz Band      The Savannah Jazz Band at 19th Jazz Days 2006 Gelsenkirchen. Recorded by H.Ulrich van Royen. With an unknown guest trombonist/vocalist.  Playing "Dinah"

Slim Gaillard  (U.S.A.) A mega star of the 1940's with hits like "Tutti Frutti", "Flat Foot Floogie", "Cement Mixer" and" A-Reet-a-Voutee", appeared at the Mayflower Sailing Club with the Dave Thompson Trio on 25th May 1986.

Steve Waterman  Seen here on trumpet with the Dave Newton All Stars, can also be seen playing trumpet on the Esther Miller clip.  As a freelance trumpet player has been seen at PJC a number of times with different groups.
